Enerkem Inc., a waste-to-biofuels and chemicals company, has appointed Carl Rush, SVP of Organic Growth for Waste Management, Inc. (NYSE: WM), to its board of directors. Rush replaces Tim Cesarek as Waste Management’s representative.
Rush joined Waste Management in 2001. Rush has served as VP of Upstream then VP of Organic Growth before being appointed SVP of Organic Growth in 2009.
As SVP of Organic Growth, he is responsible for finding growth opportunities that are synergistic with the company’s objective of maximizing value from waste, including converting them into biofuels, renewable chemicals and energy. Enerkem has established a strategic relationship with Waste Management since the company’s initial investment in Enerkem in 2010.
“As a strategic investor in Enerkem, we are seeking opportunities to leverage Enerkem’s technology in our business,” said Rush. “It is exciting to have an opportunity to support Enerkem as a Board member.”
